If you want to monitor a specific topic, you can create a new query stream. By creating a query stream, you guide the platform to crawl data and generate the results you are looking for based on the set rules.
Before You Start:
Conduct a manual search online (mainly on Twitter) to:
- Identify spelling variations of different keywords, including recurring typos and colloquial Arabic phrases.
- Identify spam hashtags/ads and other irrelevancies (essential when excluding certain keywords to narrow down your query search).
- Create a list of all potential keywords and phrases that you will use in defining your query.
Steps to Create a Query Stream:
- On the Streams tab, click on Create Query and add the name of your query.
- From the Category drop-down menu, choose a category (Brand, Competitor, or Market Research).
- In the Searches section, start adding your search rules based on your defined objectives. You can narrow down your query by filling in:
- ANY of THESE KEYWORDS: Enter the broad keywords related to the brand/topic (for example, “crowd analyzer” OR crowdanalyzer OR #crowdanalyzer OR @crowdanalyzer).
- AND THIS KEYWORD: Define the set of keywords that must appear along with those in the ANY section (e.g., hirings OR hiring OR vacancy OR vacancies).
- WITHOUT THESE KEYWORDS: List common irrelevant keywords to exclude mentions (for example, to target vacancies only in Egypt, exclude keywords related to UAE and KSA such as “united arab emirates” OR uae OR sa OR “saudi arabia”).
- Click the Add button to add your search rule.
- Add your Instagram hashtags in the action section labeled Instagram Hashtags.
- Click Create.
Notes:
- It’s not mandatory to fill in every keyword section; you must at least add the ANY of these keywords Each search query rule has a 1024-character limit.
- Use quotation marks to capture mentions that match the exact phrase (e.g., “crowd analyzer”) to avoid capturing irrelevant mentions.
- Keywords must be separated by English commas.
- The Include Countries and Exclude Keywords filters are applied after the data is collected, not from the source.
- Data crawling starts from the moment the stream is created. To obtain data from a past date, refer to our historical feature.
